방학의 마지막 열정 - 후지산 등반 (도착) [The Last Try in Summer Vacation - Mountaineering Mt. Fuji (Arrive)]

계획하고 그대로 실천할 수만 있다면 얼마나 좋겠는가만, 인생이 또 그렇지 않고 그렇기 때문에 더 즐거울 수도 있다는 걸 몸으로 느끼고 싶었다. 이번 방학에는 나름대로 최선을 다해서 놀았다(?)고 자부할 수 있지만, 그럼에도 늘 부족함을 느끼는 것은 혼자 하는 일들의 한계에 대한 일일 것이다.

It is the best if we can set the plan and do as, but the life is far from that, which is also interesting. I want to feel like this. I did my best in summer vacation season, but there was limitation due to alone.

사실 후지산은 라이딩으로 가서 느끼고 싶었던 바, 거리가 멀어 아직은 시기상조라 생각하고 있었다. 하지만 후배와 점심을 먹는 가운데 우연히 나온 계획이 실현되기까지는 그다지 긴 시간이 필요하지 않았으니, 원인중 하나는 후지산을 등반할 수 있는 기간이 7월부터 9월 중순까지 두달 반에 불과하다는 것을 알게 된 다음이었다.

Frankly I wanted to visit Mt. Fuji using motorcycle, but too far to set the plan then just searched the next chance. When eating lunch with Eui-hyun Kim, a junior of Kyoto university, he mentioned the want to visit Mt. Fuji and we started to arrange the plan by chance. (Un)Fortunately, there was not enough time to realize this thinking because we discovered the mountaineering season of Mt. Fuji is just 2.5 months (early July - middle September).

물론 금전적으로 부담이 된다면 생각만 굴뚝이고 갈 수 없는 상황이 될 것이다. 알아본 결과 1박 2일 일정으로 2일차에 일출을 보는 고속버스 투어가 통상 1만 6천엔 수준으로 부담스러운 것이 사실이었는데, 조금 더 알아보니 밤에 출발해서 아침부터 저녁까지 등산을 하고, 저녁식사와 온천욕 후 밤 10시에 출발, 3일차 새벽에 돌아오는 1박 3일 고속버스 투어는 1만엔 수준이었다. 젊음과 체력을 믿고 이 계획을 선택하게 되었는데, 이 정도면 왕복 신칸센 비용보다 저렴하니 꼭 이번 기회에 가보자고 의기투합하게 되었다.

The matter was price regardless of possible schedules. Normal course was 2 days, 1 night plan to see the sunrise on top, costs 16,000 yen, bit expensive. However, we found 3 nights 1 day schedule sleeping in the bus, including hot spring and dinner as 10,000 yen. Though looks tough, bravely chose with belief of our youth. This price is rather cheaper than round trip fee using Shinkansen.

사실 후지산이 3,773미터라는 사실과 등반을 시작하는 고고메 (5부능선)가 2,300미터라는 것을 이제서야 알았지만, 이미 후배를 통해 버스 예약을 마친 다음이니 지금부터 할 것은 준비를 잘 하는 수밖에는 없다. 우연인지 필연인지 이틀전 바이크를 심하게 몬 뒤에 이틀동안 집에서 푹 쉬게 되었고, 원래 등반을 군시절 이후로 별로 좋아하지 않는 터라 장비도 없고... 산은 높으니 그냥 트래킹화나 튼튼한 것으로 하나 준비를 하고 첫날밤 11시 50분에 떠나는 버스를 타러 교토역으로 나갔다.

I need to confess that I did not recognize the height of Mt. Fuji is 3,773 meter, and the starting point (5th ridge, say Gogome to Fuji-Subaru climb) is 2,300 meter. However, all I can do after reservation is proper preparation only^^. Again unfortunately (or fate?) I drove motorcycle too hard then needed to rest for two days just before departure. Frankly I hate mountaineering, so have no stuffs needed... simply prepare good tracking shoes and go to JR Kyoto station to catch express bus departing at 11:50 pm.

이런, 밤이 늦으면 시내버스도 띄엄띄엄 다닌다는 것을 간과한채 스포츠 드링크를 산답시고 시간을 보내다 11시반 집합시간에 정확히 도착을 했다. 이미 땀은 등 뒤로 흐르는데 어럽쇼, 후배는 아직도 오질 못했다^^ 예약한 후배 이름을 대고 버스 티켓과 2일차 점심 도시락권, 저녁 온천 및 식사권을 받고 12시 10분이 되어서야 와카야마에서 도착한 버스에 탑승했다.

Uhhh, I forgot that city buses are not so many in night time, then bit fit arrive at 11:30 pm after wasting time to buy sports drink in 100 yen shop. (But this is used perfectly when climbing and, moreover, I get the empty bottle back to home to use it as water bottle.) Wow, Kim does not arrive yet due to same reason^^ Get the ticket using Kim's name (he reserved) and receive tickets for bus, lunch boxes, dinner and Onsen. Our bus comes late from Wakayama, then we start our journey at 12:10 am.

생각보다 사람이 많았다. 자리도 촘촘히 차 있고 앞뒤간격도 그리 넓지 않지만 그저 간다는 생각에 버스에서 밤을 보내는 불편함을 견뎌냈다. 중간에 두번 정도 고속도로 휴게소에 정차를 하고 중간에 후지산 근처 기차역에서 많은 사람들을 내려놓고 나서야 후지산이 보이는 모 놀이공원 주차장에 정차를 하게 되었다.

Many passengers then I thought. Full seats, uncomfortable due to normal seat but still exciting bound for Fuji. Stop two times in resting points of highway, land peoples in the close railway station from Mt. Fuji then arrive an amusement park which can observe Mt. Fuji.

정말 대단한 규모의 산이라는 걸 짐작할 만한 광경이기도 했고, 화산암으로 이루어진 불모지 위에 등반을 위한 루트와 시설들이 육안으로 보이는 것 또한 놀라왔다. 내가 오늘 저 길을 걸어 올라가고 또 내려오겠지 하는 생각에 재미도 있었지만, 지금 서 있는 이 놀이공원이 영화 "복성고조"에 나온 그 후지큐(富士急) 공원이 아닌가 하는 생각에 더욱 즐거웠다.

What a high and real volcano! More interesting one is that we can see the route and resting places from here, which we need to pass today. Moreover, this place may be the one in Jackie Chan's movie "My Lucky Stars (1985)", my favorite.

다 온게 아니었나, 다시 열심히 한시간이 넘게 버스를 타고 올라간다. 결국 8시반경 도착한 곳은 5부능선 지역의 등반로 시작 지점인데, 사람들을 내려놓고는 버스는 덩그러니 떠나버린다. 바로 앞에는 이미 높은 지역인지라 운해가 장관이다.

Hmmm... the bus goes 1 hour more. Finally we arrive at Gogome on 8:30 am, the starting point of our climbing. Then bus leave(?). Wow, we already can see a sea of clouds in here.

계약된 식당으로 가서 점심 도시락을 받는데 삼각김밥 세개에 차 한병, 소세지와 사탕 두개... 이걸로 되려나 하는 순간도 잠시, 서늘한 날씨로 고도를 느끼며 신발끈을 동여맨다. 후배는 이것저것 챙겨왔는데 결정적으로 신발이 좀 약해 보인다.

Visit the restaurant to get lunch box. Hmmm, three Onigiris, a bottle of tea, one sausage and two candies... When I think it is enough, cool wind blows which makes me tight my shoes. Kim prepares clothes and caps, but his shoes looks not good enough.
